(Special) Team Project: Deliverable #1 20 Questions

Click Here for the team project. Write a list of 20 questions for your meeting with decision-makers who want this Web-Site. These questions should reveal the full scope of the project. (See below)

All team members contribute questions and out of those questions, select 20 to submit to the instructor. Compile the questions into one file and name the file HTML_TeamX_Deliverable2 with X replaced with name of your team. The team leader or an elected team member will submit the document to the instructor.

Team members can use Butler's pipeline (email) to communicate or the Course Homepage. You can also use other tools like, Yahoo or Microsoft IM. If you use Instant Messenger, keep track of the meeting and submit the transcript with the Deliverable.

What to deliver for Deliverable #1

  1. Team Leader
Elect a team leader during the first meeting. The team leader will be responsible for the coordination of team members and communication with the instructor. The team leader will earn extra credit for his/her role.
  2. All team members will contribute to the final report.  The team leader will submit the double spaced 20 questions report. Use Arial or Times-Roman 12 point font. Include a cover page to include: the class, team, the names of each team member, the date, and which deliverable is being submitted.
  3. The team leader will email the Team_X_Deliverable1 document to the instructor.  (Replace the X with Team_A, B, C or D)
Each team member will email his/her contribution to the team leader and a review of what they contributed to the discussion.  Click here for an example.
  4. The deliverable is due the week the assignment is posted.

For Your Information

This is the phase of discovery. Write down all the questions that need to be answered about the project. For now, this will be 20 questions. Some sample questions: Possibly the first and last question you might ask would be, "What is our budget for this project". Also, "Who are the decision makers for this project?” and "What is our time frame?". We will not worry about budgets, or personnel.

You may meet with the decision makers this semester. These meetings should produce a written document that outlines the project's scope. This requirements document acts as a starting point for everyone. Please make sure that all decision-makers and stakeholders sign off on this document. Keep a copy of this document. You will need it.

Will the questions provide enough information to:
1. Determine the scope of the project?
2. Give a clear starting place?
3. Break the project into workable modules? (Top-down design)
4. Determine a time frame?
5. Determine the quality of the final product? (Testing and QOS)
6. Provide the details of design?
7. Determine the type and frequency of reports or updates?
8. Identify any potential problems or risk to the project?
9. Give a clear stopping place?

Conduct your communication via Team Discussion area. Email to the instructor before the end of the assignment week.
