In-Class Exercise
- (50 Points) Finding a hosting company - Research, at least, 3 different web hosting companies and answer the following questions about one of the companies:
- How much does it cost a month?
- Describe their technical support.
- First, define the term "Data Transfer". Second, describe what this site offers for the data transfer associated with a web site.
- First, define the term "Domain Name". Second, describe what this site offers for customer looking for a domain name.
- First, define the term "Scripting Language ". Second, describe what this site offers for customer looking for support for updating.
- List other important points associated with this web host. For example; reliability, backups, email addresses, etc.
- Be prepared to present this information to the class. If you do not present this information to the class, save all of the information to a document. Save the file as as firstInitial_lastName_webhost.doc (e.g.: b_ray_webhost.doc) and email to the instructor
Exercises/Homework: Due before the start of class
- (50 Points) Complete the homework exercise.
- When you have finished your assignment, log in to the Butler Web Site (Pipeline) and click on My Courses Tab. You will find your class in the list of courses you are taking this semester. Click on IN112 Hypertext Markup Language and from the course homepage, click on "Files" from the left side of the page. You will see a root folder. Click on the folder and under it you will see a Week 5 folder. Click on the Week 5 folder. You will see a link to browse and upload your files. Upload your homework.
- If you can not access pipeline, email your homework to rray@butlercc.edu.
- Your homework will be graded on presentation, content and use of elements.
Quick Notes:
Sometimes you want to write CSS for just the current document. Perhaps you want to make some quick changes to test something, or you have a special page with special styles. Internal CSS style sheets allow you to create styles that affect only the current Web page. You can use classes and IDs just like with external style sheets, but the styles can't be referenced by any other document
