Folder Exercise
This exercise uses Microsoft Windows XP Professional. If you are
using a different operating system, the results may be different. Check with
the instructor if you have any questions.
- From Microsoft Windows XP, Go to Start My Documents
- Go to the Menu File- New Folder
- Change the name of the New Folder to Chapter2
- You may need to right click on the New Folder and Rename
- Double-click on the Chapter2 folder (It should be empty)
- Save the following zipped file into your folder ...tutorial.zip
- Unzip the file into the Chapter2 folder
- chem.htm
- contacts.htm
- dube.jpg
- links.htm
- While you are inside the Chapter2 folder, go to the Menu File- New Folder
- Create 3 folders. File-New Folder and name the folder "images". Repeat for
the next two folders.

- folder1
- folder2
- Cut and paste the dube.jpg into the images folder. Example: Click once on
dube.jpg and right-click. Select "cut". Click once on the images
folder and right-click. Select "paste". Repeat the process with contacts.htm
and paste into the folder1 folder and again with the links.htm to folder2 folder
- Change lines 13 and 14 of the chem.htm file to link to the contacts.htm and links.htm file (Hint: folder1/contacts.htm)
- Change line 8 to link to the dube.jpg image
- Can you change the contacts.htm and links.htm page?
- Return to the My Document folder and find the Chapter2 folder
- Right-click on the folder and send to Compressed (Zipped) file OR use your favorite way to zip the file
- Save the file as firstInitial_lastName_folder.zip. (e.g.: b_ray_Folder.zip)
- Submit this exercise as Week 2 homework
